Scat

In Scat, Carl Hiaassen has written an ecological mystery.  Mrs. Starch, the most feared and hated 6th grader teacher, takes her class on a field trip to the Black Vine Swamp, home to the endangered Florida Panther.  When Mrs. Starch goes back to retrieve an item left behind, she disappears among a swamp fire.  Who set the fire?  Can they find Mrs. Starch?  Will the Florida Panther be safe?  Adventure, intrigue and humor all combine to make this a very enjoyable read.
