Misty of Chincoteague
Misty of Chincoteague has withstood the test of time, as children have read and re-read this book since the 1950s. One of the most beloved horse stories of all times, it tells the story of Paul and Maureen who live on the island of Chincoteague with their grandparents who raise ponies to sell. A nearby island, Assateague, is home to many wild ponies, including Phantom, the mare everyone yearns to capture and tame. Paul goes to the Pony Roundup and manages to drive Phantom and her newborn foal Misty to Chincoteague where he and Maureen attempt to tame the wild Phantom’s spirit.
This classic is a great choice for any young horse lover!
