The BFG is the Big Friendly Giant, a guffawing, whimsical lug of a giant, who makes up words and eats a disgusting vegetable called a Snozzcumber, which tastes like frog skins and dead fish. One night he kidnaps Sophie and takes her off to Giantland, where there are lots of less-friendly giants who would love to chomp down Sophie, and who think the BFG is a silly oddball. Together Sophie and the BFG create a plan to stop the giants from devouring little children. They go to the Queen of England for help, having delightful adventures along the way.
