Privacy Policy

Customer Service

We cherish your trust, and will protect your privacy and security. We fully comply with the PCI-DSS, and have technology and policies in place to protect you and your information.

Thank you for visiting the MudPuddles website. We put a great deal of work into giving you and your family the best experience discovering great toys, learning about mind-opening books, finding fun events, and sharing thoughts and ideas with the MudPuddles experts and other parents and customers. Again, thank you for being a part of our community.

In order to provide this service and give you a seamless, exceptional experience, we collect certain information about you and your visit to our website.

We promise we won’t violate your privacy or your trust

We take your privacy very seriously, just the way we’d want you or anyone else to treat our own privacy. In this policy, we’ll outline what data we collect and why, whom we share it with and why, and how you can control your personal information stored with us (or request it be deleted altogether).

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at privacy@mudpuddlestoys.com.

What information we collect, and why

While you are on our website, we collect certain information about you and your visit. Most of the information we collect is not personally-identifiable (it can’t be connected with you personally).

Personally-identifying information

If you directly provide information to us (for example, by filling out a form on our website or emailing us), we will collect and store that information so as best to serve you. If that information is personally-identifying (meaning it is personally attached to your identity, such as an email address, your name, etc.), then we might collect that information together in one internal account attached to your identity. For example, if you email us about an order, and you had previously filled out a form with your address, we might attach your email address to your account so that we could email you further information about that order or future orders. We only do this to provide you the best service we can.

We only share your personally-identifying information with third parties in order to complete our service to you. For example, if you have signed up for our email list, we will send the email to you through MailChimp, a secure email newsletter service. Similarly, our paper mailing list requires us to send recipient names and addresses to a mailing house, who send the mail through the US Postal Service. These parties need this information to deliver your requested materials. These parties do not use or share your information in any way beyond this service. We hold our service-providers to strict standards, and do not tolerate any sharing, selling, or security shortcomings on their part.

Non-identifying information

During your visit to our website, we will collect certain information about your visit that cannot be personally attached to you. We collect this information to improve the experience of using our website. Usually this information is used in aggregate, for example, we record how many people visit certain pages on our website, or how many visitors we had in a month. Sometimes we use visitor information specific to a single visit, for example to see what people do after looking at certain products. While this visit is recorded individually, we cannot and do not attach that visit to any specific user or customer.

Credit card and financial information

Because credit card information is so critical and must be protected with the utmost security and sensitivity, we do not store any credit card numbers or data on any computer owned by MudPuddles. Instead, we hire FoxyCart to handle our secure and encrypted checkout process. Additionally, you may choose to keep your credit card information on file, stored on FoxyCart’s secure servers and fully encrypted. FoxyCart is PCI-DSS compliant, and undergoes daily security testing by a third-party auditor. You can read more about FoxyCart and their stringent security measures here.

Merchant Services

Finally, to process your order and payment, your credit card information will go to Authorize.net, one of the most trusted payment gateways in the world, and then to Elavon, a payment processing company. Both Authorize.net and Elavon are fully PCI-DSS compliant, meaning your information is protected by the highest financial security standards, including both technical and policy requirements that keep you and your data safe. You can read more about the PCI-DSS here.

Opting Out

While we do our best to deserve your trust and provide exceptional, valuable service and products to you, we understand if you would like your information removed from our systems. You can opt out of most of our individual services easily on your own; for example, each email newsletter we send has an “unsubscribe” link, so you can remove your email address from our database. To be removed from our paper mailing list, please email us or call (503) 625-7699. To remove your credit card information from FoxyCart’s secure servers (it is only there if you explicitly chose to store it for future purchases), uncheck the “Encrypt and save my payment details” checkbox during checkout, or email privacy@mudpuddlestoys.com.

US law and data security practices require us to keep traffic logs recording all visits to our website. As such, we cannot remove anonymous website traffic information about any visits you make to our website.

Questions, concerns, suggestions

We welcome any questions you may have about this policy or anything regarding how we treat your privacy and online security. We also welcome suggestions about how we can improve our practices or clarify this document. Please email us at privacy@mudpuddlestoys.com so we can improve how we serve you.
