Expert Pick Review written by Ryan M.

Let’s chop some food and make a meal with our Melissa & Doug Cutting Food Set! One of our favorites here at MudPuddles, this set is a great way to start learning about cooking and food preparation, plus it’s just darn fun to play make-believe.

Inside the wooden crate, there are various wooden food items that you can ‘cut’ apart with the wooden knife; the knife isn’t actually sharp, but it’s enough to get through the velcro holding the food slices together, making for a fun and safe way to practice cutting food. It’s also good for developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, plus kids can start learning about fractions in a hands-on way. Altogether a fun and educational way to play pretend.

This full set has over 30 hand-painted wooden pieces, including produce like an apple, a carrot, a watermelon, and two kinds of bread (great for making sandwiches), plus a wooden knife and cutting board.

Ages 3–8
