The Protostar is the yoyo that will destroy your understanding of how a plastic yoyo can perform, outplaying almost every metal yoyo on the market. The Protostar is the highest-performance yoyo you can get at this price, and will spin circles around just about any other yoyo you could throw.

The Protostar has a nice wide gap and a great shape that feels good and makes catching the string easy.

Designed by John Ando and the engineers at YoYoFactory, the Protostar has the long, smooth spin that only metal yoyos like the 888X can typically boast. An aluminum inner ring gives the Protostar a weighted rim that helps it spin like a fiend on its high-performance bearing. And boy, this yoyo will keep on spinning.

This is an advanced yoyo, and is not recommended for beginners. The Protostar is an “unresponsive” yoyo, meaning it will not return to your hand with a tug of the string, you must “bind” it by looping the string around it while spinning. We recommend beginning with an adjustable yoyo like our FAST 201 or Velocity.
